RETORTION TERROR / INVIDIOSUS Premiere New Tracks from Upcoming Split


Indy Metal Vault has premiered two tracks from the forthcoming split release from Japan's RETORTION TERROR and Minnesota's INVIDIOSUS. Get your grind on with the former's "Arcane Dogs" and the latter's "Purpose Defeater" below.


The self-titled split will be released October 20 on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions presents this intense split album between Japan's grinding maniacs RETORTION TERROR and US Death/Grind destroyers INVIDIOSUS! RETORTION TERROR make their HPGD debut with 5 tracks of raw, blistering grindcore straight from Kyoto Japan. Featuring legendary guitarist Takafumi Matsubara (Gridlink, Mortalized Grindcore) and a mysterious lineup of international grinders, RETORTION TERROR pull no punches on this split. In 2014, Takafumi suffered a brain infection that made it nearly impossible for him to play guitar, and many thought Gridlink's "Longhena" might be Takafumi's last record. Fortunately, he has beaten those odds; his recovery has been nothing short of miraculous, and he has resumed playing guitar and doing karate in spite of what the doctors told him. This is Takafumi's first release since that final Gridlink album, having overcome some impossible odds to return to playing grindcore. His work with RETORTION TERROR shows that he has no signs of slowing down or stopping anytime soon." INVIDIOSUS also make their Horror Pain Gore Death debut on this devastating split release! Fazer estilos modernos de Metal no Brasil é algo que sempre encontra muita oposição pelas alas mais conservadoras de fãs de Metal. Mas isso, ao mesmo tempo, não é capaz de negar o valor de tais trabalhos. E um bom exemplo é “Beyond the Vision”, álbum do quarteto THEORY, de Vespasiano (MG).

Misturando Modern Death Metal com a intensidade de Groove Metal, mais um pouco daqueles toques de Nu Metal e Metalcore (especialmente no uso de timbres limpos de voz em alguns momentos). A banda, usando a experiência de 8 anos que possui, consegue fazer soar consensual e com personalidade. E sim, o álbum é ótimo, tem “appeal” e irá conquistar os fãs do gênero.

A produção sonora do álbum ficou muito boa, clara e limpa. Óbvio que existem as doses de peso e crueza para que as músicas soem agressivas. Tudo dentro daquilo que o grupo se propõe a ser, inclusive com timbres instrumentais modernos. Aliás, que se diga de passagem que é uma produção muito bem cuidada em termos de Brasil.

A espontaneidade e energia da banda são enormes, mas se percebe que o grupo se preocupou em arranjar bem suas composições, buscando sair de clichês e pontos comuns, buscando se diferenciar de tantos que surgem dia após dia. Embora fique óbvio o talento lhes permita render ainda mais, “Beyond the Vision” é um álbum de primeira.

Em dez canções de muitas mudanças rítmicas e melodias associadas com momentos brutos, a banda mostra enorme potencial, como ouvido no azedume Grooveado à lá SEPULTURA de “My Last Condition” e sua base rítmica sólida e bem trabalhada; a levada instigante de “Reasons” e de “Find Yourself”, ambas apresentando riffs ganchudos (e na segunda, alguns ótimos vocais limpos); o baixo aparecendo muito bem no início da carregada “War for a Dead Land”, onde temos oscilações entre passagens mais agressivas e outras mais climáticas; as passagens quase Djent das guitarras em “Obsessed” e seus vocais oscilando de timbres; o Groove rasgado e ganchudo de “Haters”; e a bela e bem trabalhada “Beside You”, com sua introspecção intensa e linhas melódicas de primeira.

Sim, o THEORY é uma banda madura, talentosa e disposta a ganhar seu espaço no cenário. E desejamos que “Beyond the Vision” leve-os para mais perto desse objetivo.
